Sri Lanka team arrives on first leg of Pakistan tour


KARACHI: Sri Lanka cricket team in the first leg of its Pakistan tour has arrived here.

Sri Lankan squad led by Mahela Jayawardene will play three one-day matches against Pakistan. Stiff security arrangements were made on the arrival of the Sri Lankan team here. This is for the first time in past six months that any foreign team is visiting Pakistan.

The visiting team will play day-and-night one-day on Tuesday and Wednesday in the National Stadium here, while the third match will be held in Lahore on Saturday.

Sri Lanka's national cricket team touring Pakistan in two segments, playing three one-dayers from January 18 and then returning in February for a two-Test series. Following refusals of foreign teams visiting Pakistan on security fears, Sri Lakan current tour has all the more attained significance. The guest team comprises of: Mahela Jayawardene (captain), Kumar Sangakkara (wk), Sanath Jayasuriya, Upul Tharanga, Chamara Kapugedera, Jehan Mubarak, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Thilina Kandamby, Muttiah Muralitharan, Ajantha Mendis, Farveez Maharoof, Dilhara Fernando, Nuwan Kulasekara, Thilan Thushara, Angelo Mathews.
