MUZAFFARABAD: MQM’s Salim Butt securing 29 votes has been declared elected as the new Deputy Speaker of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.
AJK LA went into session with Speaker, Shah Ghulam Qadir in the chair for holding an election of the vacant Dy. Speaker slot, when 44 members were present, of them, 29 voted for Salim Butt of MQM, while his contender Mehrun Nisa of Muslim Conference could bag only 15 votes, according to the results announced here.
Following election, Salim Butt took oath of Deputy Speaker and later the session was adjourned sine die.
