128,000 families assisted under income support program: Raja

ISLAMABAD: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program, Farzana Raja Thursday said money orders have issued to 128,000 families under the program while 80,000 families will be receiving the financial support in a few days.

She was addressing a debate on determination of status of Benazir Income Support Program in Shariah held under the auspices of Council of Islamic Ideology.

Farzana Raja said it is government’s duty to enforce Shariah and termed any individual effort in this regard a violation of the Shariah itself.

“People issuing statements against the Income Support Program are in fact working in pursuit and fulfillment of their personal interests,” she said, adding according to the opinion of Ulema there is nothing wrong in providing financial assistance to poor women and their families.
