Cabinet approves reinstatement of 7,700 sacked employees


ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has approved reinstatement of government employees who were sacked during the years 1993 to 1996.

This was announced by Federal Information Minister Sherry Rehman at a press conference here on Wednesday.

The Cabinet has approved reinstatement government employees who were removed in 1997, Sherry Rehman said, adding 7,700 such employees will be given arrears along with a promotion to higher scale.

“Pakistan People’s Party is fulfilling the promises made to the people and that the Government will spend Rs7 to Rs8 billion on payment of arrears,” she said.

The Federal Information Minister told the reporters that the foreign exchange reserves have crossed 10 billion dollars.

She also informed that a Youth Policy was presented before the Cabinet which formed a committee in this regard.
