: Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon Wednesday said the UN will assist Pakistan in tackling the challenges it is facing today.
In his address at a press conference along with the Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani here, Ban Ki-moon said a prosperous Pakistan is in the interest of all.
He thanked Pakistan government for according warm welcome to him on his arrival.
The UN Chief lauded Pakistan’s peace efforts in the world.
Expressing grief on the kidnapping of a UN official and slaying of his driver in Pakistan a few days ago, he paid tribute to the Pakistani national on sacrificing his life in the line of duty.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on the occasion said that Pakistan is deeply committed to the vision and charter of the United Nations.
“We assure full support to the UN for its various programmes underway in different parts of the world for the cause of establishing peace,” he said.
