Refineries petroleum products sale falls by 6 pc


KARACHI: The production of oil refining companies has registered a significant decline of 6.1 percent in the first half of current fiscal year 2008-09 as compared with the same period of last fiscal year.


Oil Companies Advisory Committee (OCAC) said that the oil refineries in the first six months of the current fiscal year sold 5.171 million tons of different petroleum products, which as compared to the previous year same period down by 6.1 percent.

According to the available data, refineries’ high-speed diesel sale remained on top, which as compared to the previous year same period plummeted by 4.8 percent stood at 1.935 million tons. Light diesel sale fell by 9.5 percent to peg at 1.727 million tons, petrol by 4.4 percent to 0.77 million ton, High Octane by 15 percent to 0.372 million ton and kerosene sale dropped by 9.5 percent to remain at 0.19 million ton
